We transferred there on the way out, and we did have to go through security off of our international flight onto the Amsterdam->Berlin flight. The weird thing there, actually, was not having to go through customs - we wasted several sleep-deprived minutes just making sure we weren't missing anything obvious. Yeah, I hadn’t thought of that. Maybe that's the way they want it, though I don't see why; people coming in from airports whose security they don't consider trustworthy?
